Red Rose Pizzeria, still open during MGM casino construction.

Springfield’s favorite Italian pizzeria Red Rose is open and running during the busy construction of MGM Casino, in Downtown Springfield.

No huge construction is stopping this small business from operating. This local family restaurant is running like clockwork and operating during the massive construction that goes on right next door. They made sure that all of their customers know that they are open during construction.

Red Rose is not letting construction of MGM impact their business. Mariann, a server at Red rose says “MGM is good about keeping construction out of our way, and their workers come get take out from our restaurant at lunch sometimes too.”

Mariann, who has been with Red Rose for 14 years, says “Red Rose has such a great fallowing of customers that we know once the casino opens people will still keep on coming, some will check out what they have at the casino and then come here because they know the good quality food we have to offer them.”

Red Rose has been a local favorite for over 50 years. Red Rose Pizzeria was first opened in 1963 by Nicola and Edda Caputo. Today the restaurant is run by children of Nicola and Edda: son Tony and daughter Rita.

Red Rose has a lunch and dinner menu. They serve real and traditional Italian food such as pizzas and lasagnas, chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, and much more.

The food is what keeps their customers happy and coming back for more. Everything is made fresh in the restaurant. Bread is freshly baked every morning as well as their perfect marinara sauce.

If ordering a pizza there you will find that the sizes of their pizzas are bigger than the typical sizes of pizzas at other pizzerias.

Their menu has a vast variety of choices from pizzas, grinders, pasta dishes, and seafood dishes, and you cannot beat the prices for their great food. The most expensive dish on their menu is $19.99 for a seafood dish and a party size pizza for $23.00.

Some of the most popular dishes on the menu are their freshly made meatballs ($12.99), eggplant rollatini ($15.99), house salad ($12.99), and fried calamari ($13.95).

If you are in the mood for something new try their all-new pulled pork barbeque pizza, which comes with lite mozzarella cheese, pulled pork made fresh in the restaurant, banana peppers, red onions and garnished with BBQ sauce. A small 10” is $11.99, and a 16” is $17.99.

The atmosphere is great at Red Rose, with red brick walls and big chandeliers that make you feel like you’re in a really expensive restaurant. But once you glance at the menu and see a reasonably priced menu, you know this is a great place.

As you walk into Red Rose, behind the glass you can see the cooks rolling dough and making your pizza.

Red Rose recently renovated and extended the bar area with high-top tables. That spot was formerly the Caring Health Center which moved across the street. They also a have large banquet area available for 80-90 people that’s combined with the newly renovated bar area.

A Springfield local, Eugeniu Ciubotaru, says it is only his second time eating at Red Rose but he enjoyed it and will be back again.

“I liked their food and prices where great, they are reasonably priced dishes. Anyone looking for some great Italian food will definitely will not be disappointed here,” he noted.

Red Rose is conveniently located at 1060 Main Street in Downtown Springfield, and is open on Tuesday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Sunday noon – 10 p.m. If you’re feeling in the mood for some authentic Italian cuisine, give Red Rose Pizzeria a visit.
