American International College’s women’s soccer team will play a spring season consisting of three games against Division I teams. The team will also participate in two tournaments in the spring.

The team will play at Siena College on April 2, and at the University of Hartford on April 8. Fairfield University will travel up to AIC on April 15. AIC will also host an all-day tournament the next day, April 16. Finally, AIC will travel down the street to Springfield College for another all-day tournament on April 23.

After a successful, but also disappointing fall 2015 season, the Yellow Jackets will look to have a strong spring season to build on for the fall 2016 season.

The team finished 15-5-2 in last fall’s season, finishing in third place in the Northeast 10 Conference. After bowing out of the first round of the NE-10 playoffs against Assumption College, the team also narrowly missed out on a NCAA tournament bid.

Sophomore defender Kelly Koslosky, of Naugatuck, Conn., says she is very excited to be back on the turf and playing with her teammates once again.

“I am super pumped about getting back to playing and getting the team together,” Koslosky exclaimed.

The defender started in every game of her sophomore year, again having a strong defensive season in a defense that helped the team to an eight game winning streak during the fall season.

The games against the Division I schools will prove to be a huge challenge for the team. The women’s soccer will be looking to cover the losses of key seniors Romina Bell, Alyssa Werbicki, Meimi Tomochika, and Brittany McCarthy. There is no doubt this will be a tall task but the team will be up to it against the tough opponents they will have to face in the coming weeks.

Koslosky also stated that this spring season will be a perfect pre-preseason for the team, as they look to improve on the impressive season AIC put together last fall.

“I think playing this spring and working on our skills and game-plan as a whole will definitely help for the fall season,” Koslosky said as the team had just completed a light, but technical session on the turf.

The women’s soccer spring season will definitely be something to look out for on campus in the next coming weeks. Don’t miss out on a chance to see the lady Yellow Jackets play against some of Division I’s top schools.
