Known as the “Professor of Hockey,” Seth Dussault is in his seventh season behind the microphone at AIC as the lead play-by-play commentator for nine varsity sports (field hockey, volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s ice hockey, softball, baseball, men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse) and lead analyst for three varsity sports (football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball).
Dussault has been heavily involved in the media aspect of the athletics program at AIC since his arrival in the fall of 2007. In addition to his broadcasting duties, he has been a member of the Yellow Jacket newspaper staff for over six years, earning the title of Sports Editor in 2008, a job he continues to perform. He also was the Sports Editor of the Taper Yearbook in 2011. Dussault additionally aids the Athletic Communications Department in other ways, performing interviews after games as well as writing for the athletics website and performing other sports information work as needed.
He has been behind the mic for a number of firsts in AIC broadcasting history, including the first women’s lacrosse and first road ice hockey broadcasts in the spring of 2009, and the first field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball and men’s lacrosse broadcasts during the 2009-10 seasons. Overall, Dussault has called over 600 games for the Yellow Jackets, and the ice hockey contest at Niagara University on January 20, 2012 was his 100th ice hockey broadcast.
In addition to his work with the Yellow Jackets, Dussault has also worked for the Holyoke Blue Sox of the NECBL since the 2012 season; he was promoted to Director of Media Relations following the 2013 season and is responsible for much of the content on the team’s website as well as their social media feeds. He also serves as a broadcaster for some of the team’s games.
A native of Easthampton Mass., Dussault graduated from Easthampton High School in 2007. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from AIC in History in May 2011, graduating with honors, and is currently in the Master’s program, seeking a degree in Special Education. He is the son of Tina Mattei (Dussault) and the nephew of the late Raymond Laflam.
