Super Bowl XLIX coming up

Super Bowl XLIX coming up

Super Bowl XLIX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks may be the most contested heavy weight match up in recent years.

Do the Seahawks have the upper hand on New England with the cheating scandal that has been flooding the Patriots organization? With that being said Tom Brady and his high flying Patriots look to knock off trash talking Richard Sherman and the Seahawks off of their thrown.

Tom Brady may be making more history Sunday, February 1st in Phoenix Arizona, with a win against the Seahawks he would join Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to win four Super Bowls. On top of that, it will be Tom Brady’s sixth Super Bowl appearance since the early 2000s.

The New England Patriots came into the playoffs as the number one team in the AFC meaning they would have home field advantage all the way through the playoffs if they kept winning.

In the Divisional round the Patriots took on the Baltimore Ravens who have been the Patriots kryptonite during the post season. Come playoffs the Ravens have won two out of the last three in Foxborough during the Brady Belichick era.

That seemed to be the same result during the 2014-2015 season throughout the course of the game.

New England had other things in mind coming from two fourteen point deficits and pulling it out in an amazing 35-31 victory. The following week in the AFC Championship game seemed to come a little easier, even though they were going to be going against the future face of the NFL in Andrew Luck and the Colts. Despite a 45-7 slaughter against the Colts it had almost seemed as the Patriots didn’t just win the AFC Championship.

The following day ESPN wasn’t chirping about the dominating performance in Foxborough, but rather what was seen to be as another cheating incident that took place in the Championship game.

The first two incidents were spying issues.

The Patriots were caught recording their opponents practicing and using it to their advantage come game day, which is against NFL regulations. The most recent occurrence against the Colts wasn’t a spying rule break, but rather a little extra grip that the Patriots would have over the Colts.

The game balls that the Patriots were using were deflated some by a pound and some by two, but 11-12 balls that investigators weighed were deflated.

Now how does this give the Patriots an unfair advantage?

If anything one would think they are quiet dumb for having less air in the balls. A slight deflation in the ball helps the quarterback and his targets get a better grip on the ball, it makes the pigskin easier to throw and to catch.

When Head Coach Bill Belichick was asked about the investigation he was fully open about the controversy and stated, “At no time, was there any intent what so ever to try and compromise the integrity of the game and to gain an advantage.”

Maybe many would trust the future Hall Of Fame Ballet Coach if it had been his first go around with the unfair advantage. But since it is not what would this say about the NFL if the Patriots organization goes hardly unpunished once again. With the Super Bowl a day away, the Patriots try to clear the air and their minds of the scandal, even though it was very apparent that the Patriots wouldn’t need deflated balls to beat the Colts.

Kirk Herbstriet and well known sports commentator says the allegations of New England’s tampering with the footballs is an unnesscary storyline that overshadows what is about to be a great match up. On the other hand the defending champs led by the emerging Russell Wilson are all focus on the Patriots and are expecting an unbelievable matchup.

The last time the two power programs faced was in 2012 when Seattle beat New England 24-23 and during the post-game cornerback Richard Sherman got in Brady’s ear a bit trash talking and later on tagged a picture Sherman in Brady’s ear saying “You mad Bro?”

Furthermore, the Seahawks quarterback just came off of his worst performance of his career. 11-26 129 yards passing 0 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in the first four quarters of regulation last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

PatsHawksWith his defense and the strong will running of “Beast Mode” Marshawn Lynch brought the Seahawks to overtime were Wilson did what he does best, found a way to win driving his team down the field and throwing the game winner to send his team to what might be his biggest game of his young career yet. Last year in the Super Bowl the Seahawks annihilated the Broncos who featured Peyton Manning a quarterback they also put on a pedestal and call one of the greats. Russell Wilson knocked one off on the biggest stage can he do it again?

Despite the Bill Belichick’s resume he is said to be one of the greatest coaches ever, winning three Super Bowls. Belichick and Brady together as a unit are responsible for 20 post season wins, which is the most by any player and coach in NFL history!

On the other sideline Pete Carrol the Head Coach for the Seahawks is no stranger to winning. He won his first Super Bowl a year ago and is now only days away from seeking another. If Carrol is to be victorious he will be the only coach to win 2 National Championships at the collegiate level (USC) and 2 Super Bowls. Both of these coaches are known for their intelligence and risk.

Both signing players that flew under the radar or were given up on. (Brady 6th round Patriots, Wilson 3rd Seahawks) (Blount, Patriots and Lynch Seahawks trouble with the law) All which seem to now have crucial impact and have control to dictate the course of the game. Talk about a matchup this is going to be! Neither coach is a stranger to losing.

Super Bowl XLIX will be on to remember and is said to have hopes of an instant classic. The Patriots hope not just to get the big win and decorate the Quarterback and Coach Duo even more, but to put the allegations and scandals behind them…. And for Seattle the Legion of Boom hopes to give Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots nightmares and chaos that they been giving teams all season.
