History!! Pats pick up fifth Super Bowl title

Super Bowl LI in Houston, Texas featuring the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots was one for the ages.

This was a game where Tom Brady was going for his fifth Super Bowl ring, and no one was expecting him to break so many more records.

But that is exactly what happened.

The game was not all fun for Brady – he found himself on the ground time and time again as this young Falcons defense did everything they could to stop the Patriots. For a while, it looked like Brady’s dreams were not going to come true.

The Pats had their backs against the wall and in the middle of the third quarter they were still down 28-3. Nobody in Super Bowl history has ever come back from a lead as big as 10. The Patriots somehow came back from being down 25 points, just adding another record to their win.

With AIC being located in Massachusetts, the school is filled with Patriots fans, and that held true at the Super Bowl party at the Stinger Pub.

Fans didn’t have much to say, but towards the end we started to see them come alive.

By the time it was over, fans were going crazy with joy, leaving Falcons fans heartbroken and in disbelief. By the end of the game it was very hard to find any Falcons fans, but there were plenty of Patriot fans to talk to.

I caught up with twins Kyle and Keith Jackson who were born in Massachusetts and are diehard Patriot fans. When talking to Kyle I asked what his emotions were like when he saw the Patriots losing by so much.

“I was shocked, it really was hard to believe that we made it all the way to the Super Bowl just to blow it. Luckily we fought our way back to the top,” said Kyle Jackson.

Now, Tom Brady is the first quarter back to have five Super Bowl rings, 4 Super Bowl MVP’s, and he threw for 466 yards, which is the most in Super Bowl history.

“Brady deserved it after all the crap he’s gone through this year with Roger Goodell,” said Keith Jackson.

Good thing he brought up Goodell, the man who suspended Brady for the first four games of the 2016-17 season. Now Goodell gets to present Brady with his fifth Super Bowl trophy, and when the crowd sees him they immediately boo him.

It really is a thing of beauty for Pats fans who see this as payback. I continued to ask the Jackson brothers about how this looks for the Patriots franchise as a whole.

They responded by agreeing, “it puts them with the all-time greats, they have the best quarterback, coach, and now have been to nine Super Bowls, more than any other franchise. It seems like everyone else has some catching up to do.”

It seems like the Patriots will always be the top dog, which is probably why they receive so much hate from everyone around them. It is known that the world hates the New England Patriots; some people have very good arguments as to why. This does not change the fact that the Patriots still fight through it and succeed.

Most times people always hate on whoever is the best, and the Patriots definitely have earned the right to call themselves the best. They give people that message and say if you don’t like the way we do things, then come and stop us.

The Patriots have accomplished so much and have given their fans a lot to cheer about, but this is nothing new for them.

They are known for their winning ways, and this time they did it without star tight end Rob Gronkowski, who missed most of the second half of the year due to a back injury.

Now it is time for New England to get back to work and get ready for next season. This is a season with so many questions because of how old Brady is getting and many people fear that he might retire.

I’m sure that is a discussion for a later time period though, because he will be spending some time celebrating.
