The spring 2024 semester kicked off with the Registered Student Organization (RSO) Engagement Fair on January 31.
Students and faculty gathered at the Campus Center Auditorium to learn about different organizations on campus. Clubs such as P.R.I.D.E, LASO, Outdoors Club, Student Activity Board, and more showcased who they are and enticed students with the opportunities they provide. The student organizations also offered free merch at all tables. The event gave RSO’s the ability to show faculty and staff their club and the hard work they do. Keeping the campus community well-informed is important so that students can connect with those organizations that might be beneficial to them.
Giavanna Worthy, the Assistant Director of Student Life for Student Engagement, put in significant effort to organize this event and spoke about it. “The RSO Engagement Fair is a once-a-semester event that allows students to learn about the many ways they can be involved on and off campus,” Worthy said. “It is an opportunity for students to connect with their peers, meet student leaders, and find ways to enrich their time as an AIC student.”
Being engaged and active in your college community is vital to your experience. While many go to college solely for academic purposes, it is important to expand that experience and make the most of your time here along with using all the resources available to you. The RSO Engagement Fair is the perfect time to see what clubs, organizations, and resources are available to you here at AIC.
Worthy also emphasized the importance of the event for community building. “It is treated as an energizer for the rest of the semester,” Worthy said. “It allows student leaders to advertise their organizations as they advertise their traditions and plans for the upcoming semester. We love to see the hard work everyone puts into this event.”
The Engagement Fair was filled with laughter and joy. People learned about different clubs, met new people, found community and signed up to be a part of something. Not only were students engaged and having fun, but faculty too got to experience the community building the event brings. Find a club that speaks to your interests, join an organization that is supporting and uplifting the community, find resources that can enrich your college experience or help you with your needs! If you were not able to attend but are interested in finding an RSO to join, you can find them all on AIC ENGAGE.
