“Creed,” starring actor Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan, is another Philadelphia productions unlike other upcoming boxers.

Philadelphia, home of famous Boxer Rocky Balboa, is a town known for great fighters. One upcoming star is Adonis Johnson who is yet to have the fame that will be acknowledged when he steps into the ring with the name “Apollo.”

Due to his childhood, Adonis is still yet to know the name that he will obtain, with the help of Rocky and other close relatives. Through time Johnson realizes the name “Apollo” was another greatest boxer of all time.

Adonis spent the first years of his life in foster homes and in juvenile halls. Mary Ann Creed, a widow, decided to take in Adonis. He lives a better life with her. He became a graduate and had as table job.

Adonis on the weekends goes to Tijuana to fight unannounced boxing matches against pro boxers. With the pursuit of winning 15 matches, he quits his job to fully commit to a dream of becoming a pro boxer. Mary Anne Creed disagrees with his choice due to the fact that his father, Apollo Creed died in the ring. Nobody in Los Angeles will train him. That still did not stop him from wanting to go pro.

Adonis took the initiative and took a train ride to Philidelphia in hopes of meeting his father’s best friend, who held him when he died. Rocky Balboa.

Adonis wants Rocky to train him. At first, he rejects him. Adonis’ passion and thirst makes him reconsider training him. He worked very hard. He moved in with Rocky to continue to train for a fight with Leo in which he wins the second round TKO. His athleticism improves significantly and that earned him another fight with harder opponents. With that said, his name in the ring is “Creed.”

Adonis shared a very important romance with his neighbor, Bianca whom he met through his trainer. Bianca is a singer. She is also struggles with hearing loss. In the film, she is very supportive of Adonis. In a way she is his motivation for him to keep doing what he does. She is the one who convinced him to go by his boxing name.

A very important fighter named Conlan decides that he wanted his last fight to be with Creed. The prize is earning a heavy weight title. After receiving that news, he found his trainer Rocky in the hospital. He became very sick, diagnosed but decides not to do chemotherapy.

Rocky tells Adonis that he is risking himself in the fight. That stirred anger in him and he then gets into a fight with a rapper, which leaves him behind bars for a temporary time. Rocky bails him out, he also cursed out the former heavyweight champion who killed Adonis`s father in the ring.

Adonis trains even harder, because he knew that no matter what anyone had said to him, that he was going to fight regardless. Just before the fight, Adonis who is known as Creed, gets to wear his father’s boxing shorts. Adonis gave all he could give. He fought very hard. He unfortunately was defeated by Conlan. But, he was very well respected after the fight.

This movie is about boxing. But, it is also about getting up and taking risk.

Adonis didn’t underestimate himself, he took big chances with big time boxers. He gave it all he had no matter what. His life, what he been through, his girl and his trainer motivated him to strive to become better.

Famous boxer Rocky Balboa once said, “It ain’t about how hard you hit; its about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.”
