Saint Valentine’s Day is a feast day honoring the significance of love and affection amongst two soul mates.

On February 14th, this special occasion is celebrated. Unlike any other day of the year, Valentines Day is known as couple’s appreciation day.

Two soul mates have a day all to their selves honoring all the time they’ve spent with one another. This specific day is very romantic because lovers have the opportunity to express their love more with each other more than they normally will.

Throughout the world, this holiday is celebrated with many couples and will always be most memorable.

Although many people celebrate this event, a few disapprove of this occasion. AIC students weighed in on the issue.

Desira’e Hazel said the holiday is always worth celebrating, and every day.

“Love should be showed every day not only because it’s a holiday and everyone is celebrating it,” she said.

Hazel’s boyfriend, Ahzir McGuire, agrees with her, noting that he is genuinely infatuated with his girlfriend and it’s not a holiday that can be any more special when you’ve already given your love and affection on a daily basis.

Ashley Torres believes females are so eager to celebrate it because of jealousy and peer pressure. When seeing your close friends be adored by their significant other that sometimes make the female feel unwanted, which makes them sought something of their own. This leads to jealousy and peer pressure every time they friend influenced them to be in a relationship.

Hazel and McGuire are childhood sweethearts. Both originated from the same hometown Paterson, New Jersey.

It all started in the 4th grade when they first met each other, both attended P.S. 12 and same junior high school as well. They were very close friends did homework with each other, participated in school activities together, even went on school trips together.

At the time he was the coolest friend to be around in her eyes. It was in high school when they separated McGuire was a football star for his school and Hazel was a cheerleader for hers.

Around their junior year through a mutual friend they were able to rejoin, this time not as friends. Two years into their relationship now, they are here celebrating their 3rd Valentine’s Day together.

They never knew later on in life that they would fall in love with each other and become soul mates. Now both attending AIC together they are happier than ever, thankful for being by each other side and wishing many more valentine days to come for them.

Valentine’s Day is a very special day for couples and for Desira’e and Ahzir their relationship is the true meaning of love.

Through obstacles of being separate for a little amount of time, they were able to rejoin and become as one. Watching these two are so special because if they can be happily ever after this is an example for many other couples.

Love and affection are what Valentine’s Day is all about and any couple that can honor that on a daily basis is meant for one another.
