Most people are quite aware of major events happening in NYC, but no one expected what happened from October 7th to October 8th. Ferrari celebrated its 70th anniversary in the way that the company does best: displaying the history of their cars across the city.

Start in Rockefeller Plaza, and the whole history of Ferrari unfolds. Cars from the modern peak of Ferrari performance, to the some of the original roots of the company are displayed on a red carpet no less. On the center stage is the new LaFerrari Aperta specifically built for the occasion.

Only 30 made and valued at a near $12 million price tag, the off color white turns head everywhere.

A couple of blocks over at the Ferrari store in NYC, two of the newest builds are displayed. Both interesting ideas of hatchbacks, their appearances could deceive anyone, as they can hit 60 mph in under 3 seconds, which inspired the name of Superfast.

Inside the Ferrari store is more dedicated décor and memorabilia to the 70th anniversary, as well as some older cars.

Up the street at the Hublot Watch store, the racing collection of Ferrari’s is on display. Hublot sponsors many of the racing Ferrari teams, and has it’s own collection of watches dedicated to Ferrari. The main piece of the collection on Display is the 2010 Formula 1 racing Ferrari. Different from all other Ferrari’s on display, the aerodynamic appearance commands the gaze of anyone passing by the collection.

A farther walk from the rest is Sotheby’s, a fine arts display and auction place. This is where the masterpieces belong, and the best of the best Ferrari’s exist here. On the street are some of the most well known Ferrari’s to date: Enzo, F50, F40 and more. Back in their day, these cars were the pinnacles of Ferrari’s performance.

But there is more at Sotheby’s. On the 10th floor of the gallery are the true classical masterpieces. The Ferrari’s in the gallery are worth tens of millions of dollars, including the Ferrari 250 LM which sold for a mind boggling 18.3 million dollars. The 5-car collection itself is nearly priceless and shows the best of Ferrari’s passion for perfection and how it’s evolved.

For those dedicated to the hunt, a tag was developed on Instagram to enter and win prizes. The ultimate prize is a Formula 1 race experience with the Ferrari team. Two Grand Prize winners will be going to the 24 Hour race of Daytona.

About 40 others will be able to test-drive a Ferrari, and another 40 will win Ferrari branded Ray-Ban glasses. Upon visiting certain areas, seekers were awarded by checking in and getting either a poster or hat.

One thing for sure, Ferrari celebrated in NYC properly for two days, and those who experienced and lived through Ferrari’s innovation for the past and future will most certainly never forget it.
