During the halftime of the Homecoming football game, AIC’s very own Queen Bees dance team put on an energy filled performance.

Despite the rainy weather, the team came out with smiles ready to dance. At a point in the performance there were some technical difficulties and the music stopped. The team continued to dance anyway and pulled through with a great performance. There was a lot of love and cheering from the stands, so people enjoyed the show.

A freshman at AIC, Tatyana Simms who is a member of the Queen Bees, described how it was preparing for the Homecoming performance.

“It was a little stressful with the late night practices and all the hard work, but it was fun overall,” Simms said.

Queen Bee member Tahmar Stewart said the preparations and practices were part of the excitement.

“Preparing for it was fun, made me really excited to finally perform,” Stewart said.

When asked about how the team’s first performance of the year went, Stewart said, “ I think we did pretty well, I liked the performance because you could feel the good energy from us as a team and also the great energy from the crowd.”

Kianna Robinson, choreographer and leader of the Queen Bees, talked about the performance and the team as a whole.

“With it being my last semester, I decided to take a different approach this year. I really wanted the team to enjoy performing,” Robinson said.

“Of course I wanted us to be to look together as a team but I really wanted them to just enjoy everything this year. I honestly couldn’t be happier. Looking at the video and all the photos it looked as though everyone had fun. This was my big project and my farewell to the team, because now we’re going to the transition phase,” she added.

Robinson also spoke on the feedback the team received about the performance.

“I have heard nothing but positive feedback,” she said. “People really enjoyed the performance and I could feel that energy while we were performing. Its been four long years and we’ve gotten negative comments from people on campus. However I think the level of respect for not only what we do but who we are as a team has grow because we as a team has grown. So I’m grateful that we are being recognized for what we’ve worked hard for.

“For the past year I’ve been so nervous about the future of the dance team once I left because I’m the last original e-board member. Over the past month that has changed. Now that we are beginning the transition phase, this is where I will be able to tell how well the team will be when I’m gone but I have faith in them,” Robinson said, regarding the Queen Bees once she is gone.

Overall the dance team had a very good homecoming performance with infectious energy and good music. The hard work and dedication showed through their performance and they should be very proud.

Thank you Queen Bees for a great show.
