Odell Beckham Jr., “a walking Hollywood”

Whether you love him for his one handed catches, flashy plays, and custom cleats, or hate him for his arrogance, his on-field antics, or his attitude, you can’t deny that Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants is one of the most exciting players in football.

Odell Beckham Jr’s stat line is jaw dropping. Through his first 38 games played, Odell has 252 receptions, for 3,670 yards and 33 touchdowns, according to ESPN.com. Beckham Jr. is also the quickest to 200 receptions by reaching the feat in only 30 games.

But the 24-year-old they nicknamed OBJ is much more than a stat line.

Odell’s charismatic attitude is either loved or hated throughout the league and fans of the game. There is no doubt that OBJ loves the attention. He’s usually very prepared to put on a show when he celebrates in the end zone. Which some people aren’t too fond of.

OBJ is just a flashy player all around. He’s known for his custom cleats and gloves which stand out among the league. He also has maybe the most iconic hair in the game of football — a tall mohawk, that’s bleached blonde, just to add onto his flashiness.

As if all this wasn’t enough, he’s also tattooed from what seems to be head-to-toe.

He’s a walking Hollywood.

Others don’t appreciate his on-field stunts. For example, many recall the back and forth disputes between him and the Carolina Panthers Defensive Back at the time, Josh Norman. On several occasions they had to be separated from fights. Beckham Jr. was flagged for two personal fouls in the game, which is supposed to warrant an ejection in the NFL.

When AIC student Nick Lavin was asked what he thought about the events between Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman he responded, “I think Odell looked childish acting the way he did… I’m not a fan of him.”

Another AIC freshman, Colin Nicklas was asked if he likes OBJ.

“I do, he might be the most electric wide receiver in the league,” Nicklas said. He was then asked if he viewed Beckham Jr, as a “bad guy.” He responded: “hmmm…I wouldn’t say he’s a ‘bad guy’ but I understand why some people wouldn’t like him. He’s definitely a character.”

Odell may be viewed as a villain around the league, but his performance on the field is certainly not questioned.
